The Light of My Footprints

Price range: 110.00$ through 600.00$

Jakuszyce, Poland

Capture the haunting stillness of a 4:00 AM mountain trek with this evocative fine-art print. “The Light of My Footprints” documents a rare meteorological phenomenon: the fog bow. Unlike a traditional rainbow, this ethereal white arch emerges from the mist, creating a ghostly bridge between the golden peat bogs and the deep shadows of the spruce forest.

Description

The story:

The air in the Izera Mountains doesn’t just get cold – it turns brittle. At 4:00 AM in Jakuszyce, the silence is so heavy it feels like a physical weight against my chest. I hiked into the peat bogs while the world was still charcoal and shadow. My boots crunched through frost dusted grass, the only sound for miles. I was looking for something though I wasn’t sure if it was a shot or just a moment of clarity. Then, the sun began its slow crawl behind me. As the first weak rays hit the lingering mist, the phenomenon appeared: a fog bow. It wasn’t the vibrant, boastful spectrum of a rain shower, but a ghostly, ethereal arch of pure white light. It felt like a portal opening over the valley, a silent bridge between the damp earth and the darkening sky. I stood perfectly still, my own shadow stretching out long and thin toward the center of the arc.

The Foreground: A single cluster of red bilberry leaves glowed like a dying ember in the tall, golden grass.
The Background: The silhouettes of spruce trees stood like sentinels, half drowned in the low hanging fog.
The Feeling: Absolute insignificance.

I adjusted my tripod with numb fingers, the metal biting into my skin. I didn’t want to capture just the landscape. I wanted to capture the way the light seemed to remember where I had walked. The title came to me before I even pressed the shutter: The Light of My Footprints.

In that frame, the world felt balanced. The warmth of the grass against the cold blue of the receding night a fleeting, ghostly geometry that vanished the moment the mist began to lift. I packed my gear in silence, leaving nothing behind but a flattened patch of frost and a memory of the white rainbow.
