The story:

The day began with a sky full of dark, swirling clouds, signaling an approaching storm. Arriving at the shore, I felt the charged atmosphere and saw the breakwater, which would serve as the focal point, contrasting the man-made structure with nature’s chaos. Using a long exposure, I captured the ocean’s movement, turning the waves into soft, ethereal shapes. A neutral density filter and tripod allowed me to slow the shutter speed and create a smooth, dreamlike surface while maintaining the waves’ form.

A lone seagull resting on the breakwater added a sense of calm amidst the storm, its serene presence contrasting the turbulent backdrop. The photograph became a story of resilience and quiet strength. Severance is dominated by deep blues and soft pastels, evoking melancholy and introspection. The stormy sky and rain enhanced the vibrancy and texture of the scene, creating a dreamlike mood that feels both fleeting and eternal. Reviewing the images, “Severance” felt like more than a photograph—it captured nature’s raw beauty and the balance between chaos and calm.
